History

The Department of Marketing and Consumer Studies is one of the new Departments established by the University in the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences in 2014. The Department began academic activities in the 2018/2019 academic year with NUC-approved robust curriculum aimed at catering for the growing demands of marketing professionals globally. 

The field of Marketing is presently witnessing great transformation in Nigeria and the world over. The mission of the department is to cater for the growing demands of qualified marketing professionals by producing a pool of well trained graduates equipped with relevant, contemporary skills and knowledge in the field of marketing.

PHILOSOPHY 

The basic philosophy is to broaden and deepen the intellectual exposure of students in core marketing and consumer studies so as to develop their capability to undertake in-depth research in the field of marketing. 

It aims to also produce marketing professionals who are capable of taking up marketing management roles in various sectors of the Nigerian and world economies.
